New Delhi: Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has earned a rare global honour after being featured in TIME magazine’s “TIME100 Next” 2025 list, which highlights the world’s most influential rising stars across industries. Jaiswal is the only cricketer to find a place in this prestigious international lineup, a recognition that underlines not just his cricketing feats but also his inspirational journey. Taking to social media after the announcement, the young left-hander wrote, “What a Time to witness! I am honoured to be recognised in the 2025 #TIME100NEXT list alongside leaders shaping the future across industries. It reminds me how far I’ve come and how much further I want to go.”
Jaiswal’s rise has been extraordinary. Born in Uttar Pradesh, he moved to Mumbai at the age of 11 to chase his cricketing dream. Struggling through financial hardships, he famously sold pani puri outside Azad Maidan to survive while training. Eventually, his talent was spotted, and under the guidance of his coach who also became his legal guardian, Jaiswal worked relentlessly to hone his batting. His consistency in junior and domestic cricket soon catapulted him into the international arena, where he has already carved out records at a young age. He became the first Indian to score more than 1,000 Test runs in a single calendar year before turning 23, marking him as one of the brightest batting prospects in world cricket.

The announcement of Jaiswal’s inclusion in TIME’s list came just as India prepared for a two-Test series against the West Indies. While the team focused on the challenge ahead, Jaiswal’s recognition drew international attention to his influence beyond the cricket field, making him a symbol of perseverance and determination. His story, from selling snacks on Mumbai’s streets to being named among the world’s most influential rising stars, has resonated deeply with fans and admirers.
The recognition places Jaiswal in a select group of young global leaders shaping the future in their respective domains. For Indian cricket, it is a moment of pride as one of its brightest young talents is acknowledged on a world stage. For Jaiswal, it marks another milestone in a journey that is still only beginning, with the promise of much more to come both on and off the field.
