Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued nowcast warning for seven districts in Odisha, including the state capital, till 3.35 pm on Tuesday.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower accompanied by lightning and one or two spells of intense rain likely in some parts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati and Khurda in 3 hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The MeT office had earlier forecast that the state will experience subdued rain for two days followed by heavy rain from July 5 under the influence of a possible low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. It had issued yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts on Tuesday (June 4). Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely to occur at many places inf South Odisha and at a few places in North Odisha, it added.
