Berhampur: A youth died when the cricket bat hit him while he was playing in a cricket tournament in Ganjam district on Sunday.
According to sources, the incident took place when 28-year-old Narayan Gouda was playing in the tournament at Chingudikhola village under Kodala police station about 60 km from here. The handle of the bat hit his chest when he jumped before the crease to avoid run out, some players said.
He was admitted into Khallikote community health centre (CHC) where he succumbed there.
Narayan is the only son of his parents. His father works in a coal mine outside Odisha. His wife is 9-month pregnant, family sources said.
