Young Innovator From Odisha Shraavya Mishra Felicitated At INSPIRE MANAK National Exhibition

Bhubaneswar: Shraavya Mishra, a talented school student from Odisha, stood out at the 11th National Level Exhibition and Project Competition (NLEPC) under the INSPIRE– MANAK scheme.

A student from Kendriya Vidyalaya 2, CRPF Campus, Bhubaneswar, her innovative app, I-SRAVIA, designed to bridge communication barriers between the deaf and mute communities and the rest of the world, gained special attention at the event.

The exhibition, inaugurated by DST Secretary Prof Abhay Karandikar at ITPO, New Delhi, saw 360 students showcasing innovations that tackle societal challenges. The NLEPC, which was open to the public from September 17-18, stands out due to the diversity of innovations, representing geographical balance and addressing issues that align with the nation’s vision of a sustainable and inclusive future, a press release said.

She was among 31 students from across the country selected in the Project competition and felicitated at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on September 19 by the dignitaries including DST Secretary Prof Karandikar, Prof Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairperson, NIF India Dr Namita Gupta Head, INSPIRE MANAK, DST, Dr Arvind Ranade, Director NIF and others. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology & Earth Sciences, was to felicitate the winners. However, due to unavoidable reasons he could not attend the programme.

I-SRAVIA has received wide appreciation at the multi level event- school, district, zone, state and national level. The app converts sign language into text and voice using camera image processing, facilitating two-way communication. Shraavya, the granddaughter of senior journalist Ajoy Misra, aspires to continue developing impactful, socially relevant technologies.
