New Delhi: Such was his addiction to PUBG that a Delhi teenager “stole” Rs 2.3 lakh from his grandfather’s pension account for making in-game purchases.
According to reports, a 65-year-old retired employee of BSNL received an SMS in May that there was only Rs 275 left in his bank account.
The flabbergasted man filed a police complaint and the case was transferred to Cyber Cell. Investigation revealed that the complainant’s 15-year old grandson had stealthily transferred Rs 234,497 in partial amounts from the pensioner’s account to a Paytm account between March 7 and May 8.
Police said the boy had deleted all OTP messages so that his grandfather didn’t know of the stealthy transactions. The boy had reached “ace level” rank in the game.
Notably, the Central government recently banned PUBG, which is one of the most popular mobile apps in the country.
