Bhubaneswar: A workshop aimed at empowering young researchers with data analytic skills was held at the Institute of Business and Computer Studies (IBCS), faculty of management sciences of SOA Deemed to be University here, recently.
The workshop on ‘Statistical Package for Social Sciences for Research and Publication Excellence Empowering Young Researchers with Data Analytic Skills’ witnessed active participation of research scholars belonging to diversified disciplines including biotechnology, medical sciences, dental sciences, nursing, cultural studies, pharmacy, agriculture, management and other inter-disciplinary fields.
Scholars from different constituent institutes and departments of SOA participated in the workshop which was addressed by the university’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Prashanta Kumar Patra.

ticipants to focus on quality research, statistical application ad publication excellence.
Dr Hareram Sahoo, Assistant Manager and Program Head at National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), delivered the keynote address on ‘Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Research Excellence’ while emphasising on innovation-driven research, entrepreneurship development, intellectual property awareness and practical application of research outcomes for societal benefit.
Prof Ayasa Kanta Mohanty, Dean of IBCS, delivered the welcome address stating that the initiative aimed at strengthening research competencies among young scholars.
The technical sessions were conducted by Prof Manoranjan Dash, Associate Dean, IBCS, who also acted as the resource person for the programme. He also provided hands-on training to the participants on data analysis using SPSS, statistical techniques, interpretation of results and their application in research and publication.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr Preeti Y Shadangi, Workshop Coordinator, whose dedicated efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the program.
Prof Bibhudendu Pati, Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Rama Devi Women’s University, who graced the valedictory session as the chief guest, stressed on the importance of quality research and data-driven academic practices.
Prof Jyoti Rajan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare), also addressed the participants encouraging them to pursue innovative and impactful research.
