Youth Arrested On Rape Charge In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: Police arrested a youth on rape charge in a village of Ganjam district on Wednesday.

IIC of Aska police station Prasant Kumar Sahu said acting on a complaint of rape filed by a 21-year-old girl of Gabanala village, they had arrested 24-year-old Mithun Gouda of the same village.

“We have conducted medical examination of both the victim and the accused, recorded the statement of the victim and registered a case”, he said. The accused has been forwarded to court.

According to the complaint, Mithun had forcibly entered the house of the victim when she was alone and raped her one month ago. Later, he continued to keep physical relation with her through blackmail.

The victim stated that Mithun had taken some nude photographs of her and threatened to post it in the social media if she did not keep physical relation with him. He also threatened to kill the girl and her parents, she alleged.
