Youth Attempts Self-Immolation As Girlfriend Gets Married To Another Person In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Baripada: A youth allegedly attempted self-immolation after his girlfriend got married to another person in Mayurbhanj district.

According to sources, the youth, Baidyanath of Kathapal village in Betanati area and the girl were in a relationship. After the girl got married to another person recently, Baidyanath was in a depression.

While Baidyanath was alone at his home on Wednesday, he poured kerosene and set himself on fire. After hearing his scream, his neighbours rescued him.

They admitted Baidyanath, who reportedly sustained 70 per cent burn injuries, in Pandit Raghunath Murmu Hospital in Baripada. His condition was stated to be critical.
