Angul: A youth allegedly beat his old mother to death following an argument over a petty issue in Odisha’s Angul district.
According to sources, the youth, identified as Saroj Nayak of Susuda village under Angul Town police station, used to have quarrel with his 70-yeaa-old mother Lata Nayak regularly. They were engaged in an argument over some matter on Saturday night.
On Sunday morning, Lata again raised the issued and reportedly said some harsh words to her son. Agitated over it, Saroj started beating her.
Even as Kata shouted for help, Saroj continued to beat her until she died on the spot. Later, their neighbours came to know about it and informed the police.
A team from Angul Town police station went to the village and sent Lata’s body for post-mortem. They have registered a case of unnatural death and started investigation.
The police have also detained Saroj and were questioning him.
