Youth Chased & Hacked To Death On Village Road In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: In a scene out of a violent film, some arms-wielding miscreants chased a youth on a road and hacked him to death in Ganjam district.

According to sources, the incident took place when the victim, identified as Amit Acharya, was returning to his house on his bike late Friday night.

When he was crossing Muktamaladeipur village under Polasara police station, the miscreants stopped him and started to attack him. As he tried to run away to escape, they chased him on the road and hacked him with swords.

After the miscreants fled, the locals came to the rescue of Amit, but he had already died at the time.

On being informed, police went to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. They have registered a case and launched an investigation. Old rivalry is suspected to be the cause of the murder though the attackers have not been identified.
