Angul: In a rare show of defying social taboo, a youth got married to a transgender in the district.
According to sources, one Bablu of Kaniha tied th
e knot with the transgender Chinmayee at Budhithakurani temple to as per the Hindu tradition by following all the rituals. The ceremony was performed in adherence to COVID-19 restrictions with a limited number of people attending it.
The sources said Bablu and Chinmayee had met during a stage show a few years back and developed friendship. Soon their friendship brought them closer and they were involved in a romantic relationship.
Five years after their relationship, Bablu proposed to marry Chinmayee which the latter agreed.
