Nuapada: A young boy escaped with injuries after he was attacked by a leopard in Odisha’s Nuapada district on Saturday evening.
According to sources, the youth, identified as Senapati Majhi of Hirapur village under Sinapalli forest range, had gone to a forest area on the outskirts of the village to attend to nature’s call in the evening. While he was cleaning himself on a nearby river, the leopard pounced on him.
Though frightened by the leopard’s ambush, Senapati struggled with its to save himself. The big cat had grabbed his hand with its mouth, but Senapati managed to get himself freed from its jaws and ran for his life.
On reaching the village, told the villagers about the leopard attack. They rushed him to community health centre (CHC) at Sinapalli. On checking him, the doctor of the hospital found that the leopard had pierced its teeth into left arm and thigh of Senapati. Following treatment of the injuries, he was relieved from the hospital.
Meanwhile, a team of Forest officials, led by Sinapalli ranger Murari Panda, has gone to Hirapur to track the leopard and send it to deep forest, the sources said.
