Bhubaneswar: A New Year-eve party in the city ended in murder of a youth as he was attacked by some miscreants late Friday night.
The incident took place in Sundarpara area where some youths attacked local resident Dipu Rout, causing grievous injuries that led to his death.
As per reports, Dipu and his friends were enjoying a New Year-eve party in Nuasahi area when some youths from Kapileswar in inebriated condition indulged in heated exchanges with them for some reason. As tension escalated, some of them, armed with sharp weapons and sticks, attacked Dipu and his friends killing him on the spot.
On being informed, personnel from Airfield police station rushed to the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
“The body has been sent for post-mortem and a probe initiated into the incident. Those guilty won’t be spared,” a police official said.
