Jajpur: A young man has been arrested by the police in Jajpur district of Odisha district for allegedly circulating videos containing child pornography.
The accused, identified as Mukesh Barik, hails from Dhanbad area under the jurisdiction of Mangalpur police station.
As per information, the youth had been regularly downloading obscene videos on his mobile phone. Subsequently, he forwarded the videos to several other phone numbers. Following this, the obscene videos were widely circulated. Most of the videos contained child photography, sources said.
The matter came to the notice of the cyber police which traced the activity through the mobile phone’s IP address. After examining the digital trail, the cyber police identified the location of the accused. It was confirmed that the accused was from Jajpur district.
After tracking Barik’s location, a police team conducted a raid in the area and apprehended the accused, who was later produced before a local court.
Police said further investigation is in progress to ascertain if other people were also involved in act of sharing the illegal and obscene content.
