Phulbani: Police have arrested a youth for allegedly raping a minor girl in Tumudibandh area of Kandhamal district.
According to police, the incident happened on Thursday evening when the victim, a Class IX student, was present in her house with her mother. A married youth from the neighbourhood called the girl out on some pretext.

When the girl unsuspecting girl stepped out, the accused dragged her to an abandoned house and raped her. The girl’s shouts for help alerted some locals, who rushed to the place and rescued her.
Later, a police team from Tumudibandh reached the village and arrested the accused.
The medical examinations of the victim and the accused will be conducted on Friday, police said.
