Sambalpur: A youth, who had faked his kidnapping from Rairakhol in Odisha’s Sambalpur, was nabbed by police from Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, the youth, identified as Satya Sahu of Sahebi village under Nakatideula police limits, went missing from his house on January 31. His parents enquired about him from their relatives and his friends but failed to trace him. They filed a missing complaint with the police.
Later, they received a call from an unidentified person who claimed that he had kidnapped Satya and demanded a ransom amount of Rs 3 lakh to release him. Shocked by the phone call, they informed the police requesting to rescue their son.
By tracking the phone call, the police traced it to Bhubaneswar. A police team came to Bhubaneswar and came to know that Satya had himself made the phone call to make the ransom demand.
The police detained Satya and questioned him. Satya confessed to the police that he had staged his kidnapping. He took the step as he was in need of money, the sources said.
