Berhampur: A youth, who had gone to get married, was injured when an unidentified person shot at him in Ganjam district.
According to police sources, Jitendra Barik of Bhaliajhara village under Beguniapada police outpost had gone to Manikpur village under Khallikote police station to marry the daughter of his maternal uncle and was staying in the house of his uncle on Tuesday night.
When he was talking with somebody over his mobile phone on the verandah of the house at around 9 pm, a miscreant hurled a bomb at him and fired one round from a revolver.
The bullet pierced through Jitendra’s back and came out through the belly. He was rushed to Khallikote community health centre (CHC) and later, shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, here.
Confirming the report, Khetra Mohan Sahu, ASI of Khallikote police station said police have gone to the spot for investigation.
