Keonjhar: A youth was killed and another seriously injured as their bike was hit by a van in Odisha’s Koenjhar district on Sunday.
According to sources, the youth, identified as 20-year-old Amit Kumar Sahu of Jinkipada village under Kaptipada police station of Mayurbhanj district along with another person, Panchanan Dehuri was going to Thakurmunda on a bike.
As they reached Jualikata Chhak in Anandpur of Keonjhar district, a pick-up van lost control and hit their bike. While both Amit and Panchanan fell down and started bleeding heavily, the van sped away.
The locals rushed both victims, who had lost consciousness, to a hospital at Anandpur. But the doctors of the hospital declared Amit brought dead. Panchanan is undergoing treatment.
On being informed, a team from Mahuladiha police station went to the hospital and sent the body for post-mortem. They have also registered a case and launched an investigation.
