Angul: A youth sustained critical bullet injuries after unidentified miscreants fired on him at Santhapada village in Talcher of Angul district on Saturday night.
The victim has been identified as Balaram Sahu of Ambapalas village under Parajanga police limits in Dhenkanal district.
Some miscreants attacked Balaram at Santhapada village, while he was riding a moyorcycle with his two brothers. He was hit on his chest.
The victim was rushed to the Angul DHH, and later, shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
Another person also sustained minor injuries in the incident.
However, the miscreants managed to flee the spot.
On being informed, the police reached the spot and started investigation.
Though the exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, the police suspect it to be the fallout of past enmity.
