Google-owned YouTube is taking on TikTok with a new experiment. The video platform will have 15-second-long multi-segment videos like TikTok and Instagram’s Reels.
YouTube will feature a ‘Create a Video’ button in mobile mode. Users can tap and release the record button to capture the short clips. Like TikTok, the 15-second clips will then be uploaded as a single video.
Initially, users will be able to upload longer videos from the phone gallery and not record directly from the app.
The feature is available to select users on both iOS and Android now. Apart from filters, there will be a manual voice selector that has been reportedly tested in Punjabi, Uzbek, Burmese and Estonian for now.
