Yuzvendra Chahal Rewrites IPL Bowling Record; Check Top 5 Wicket Takers
Kolkata: Yuzvendra Chahal scripted a massive record on Thursday evening when he became the top wicket-taker in the history of IPL.
The Rajasthan Royals leg-spinner dismissed Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana with the second delivery of his spell at Eden Gardens to take his tally to 184 wickets.
Chahal this surpassed West Indian allrounder Dwayne Bravo, who finished his career with 183 wickets in 161 IPL games.
The 32-year-old Chahal went on to capture 3 more wickets this evening to finish with superb figures of 4-0-25-4. He now has 187 wickets, and could become the first man to scale the 200-wicket IPL peak this season itself.
The most remarkable aspect of Chahal’s feat is his strike rate of 1.3 wickets per game – a remarkable figure in T20 cricket.
Chahal’s strike rate is better than not only Bravo, but also way ahead of the other three bowlers – Piyush Chawla, Amit Mishra and Ravichandran Ashwin — in the top 5 IPL wicket takers’ list.
Interestingly, there are 4 spinners among the top 5, all of them being Indians. And 3 of the 4 spinners on the list are leggies.
