Zelensky For Nobel Peace Prize: European Politicians Push For Ukraine President’s Nomination
Moscow: A group of European politicians has urged the Norwegian Nobel Committee to nominate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022.
Nominations for Nobel Peace Prize are generally accepted till January 31. The current and former politicians have requested the committee to extend nomination procedure till March 31 this year so that Zelensky’s case may be considered.
“We therefore humbly call upon you, the Committee, to consider: Extending and thereby re-opening the nomination procedure for the Nobel Peace Prize until March 31, 2022 to allow for a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for President Zelensky and the people of Ukraine,” their statement said.
Zelensky has emerged as a national and international hero for leading Ukraine’s brave fight against Russia’s aggression from the front.
As many as 251 individuals and 92 organizations have applied for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize.
The politicians called on the committee “to reopen and reconsider the 2022 nomination procedure for the Nobel Peace Prize.”
The Nobel Prize announcements will be made between October 3 and 10 in 2022.
