New Delhi: With Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech coming up with the first COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin, there’s another potential vaccine for the deadly virus that has got the DCGI nod for clinical trials on humans in India.
This vaccine is developed by Zydus Cadilla and has also bagged the go-ahead from the DCGI to start trials.
The approval process for human was fast-tracked after the subject expert committee recommended the use, keeping in mind the emergency and immediate medical need during the pandemic.
“DCGI Dr VG Somani has given approval for the phase I and II clinical trials (on humans) of the potential novel coronavirus vaccine developed by Zydus Cadila Healthcare Ltd on Thursday after its animal studies was found to be successful,” an official source was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
