‘Spread The Word’: Anand Mahindra Lauds Free Cancer Care Centre In Odisha; Check His Post

Bhubaneswar: Industrialist Anand Mahindra, who never ceases to amaze with his social media posts, recently expressed his admiration for a cancer centre in Odisha that provides free palliative care to patients at advanced stages of the disease.

β€œWhat a humane and generous project. Subroto, I salute you and Susmita for making your state and our country a far better place,” the Mahindra chairman wrote on the X platform.

Sharing a post by IPS officer Arun Bothra, the business tycoon also urged others to spread the word about the centre.

Bothra had shared pictures of Bagchi Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre (BKPCC) in Bhubaneswar, which started its in-patient services earlier this week, with the focus to provide “compassionate care for advanced cancer patients”.

“In case you know any patient who needs such care please do connect them. The service is free,” the IPS officer had added.

The centre at Info Valley-II, on the outskirts of the city, here provides specialised medical care to cancer patients, who can get relief from pain and other symptoms of end-stage disease. It is a collaborative effort of Bangalore Hospice Trust (BHT) Karunashraya and Mindtree co-founder Subroto Bagchi for which the Bagchi family had pledged Rs 130 crore.

The Bagchi couple has also donated Rs 210 crore for 750-bed Bagchi-Sri Shankara Cancer Centre and Research Institute, which has come up on 22 acre at Info Valley-II. It was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in February.
