Paresh Rawal Wants Those Who Don’t Vote To Be Punished

Mumbai: Bollywood celebrities came out in huge numbers to cast their votes here on Monday, in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections.

Many of them have been urging their fans and followers to definitely vote through video messages. On Monday, Paresh Rawal blasted those who don’t exercise their democratic right in these elections.

The 68-year-old actor told mediapersons that those who don’t vote have no right to criticise the government, and there should be some form of punishment for them.

“Aap kahoge sarkar yeh nahin karti, woh nahi karti aur agar aaj aap matdaan nahi karoge toh uske liye zimmedaar aap honge… sarkaar zimmedaar nahi hai. (You will say the government doesn’t do this, doesn’t do that, but if you don’t vote, then you are responsible for it. The government is not responsible,” Rawal said.

“For those who do not vote, there should be provisions against them… Either increase their tax, or there should be some punishment or reaction against them,” Rawal added.

Last month, Rawal had appealed to people to vote through a post on social media.

“Bad politicians are not born. They are created… Created By the good people who go on a Picnic on a Voting Day!” Rawal wrote on X.

Rawal’s upcoming films include ‘Hera Pheri 3’, ‘Awara Pagal Deewana 2’ and ‘Welcome to the Jungle’.
