Sambalpur: In a tragic road accident, one person was killed and five others critically injured after an ambulance hit a truck in Rairakhol area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Saturday.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place on NH 55 near Phuljharan under the jurisdiction of Jujumura police station in the early hours. The deceased has been identified as ambulance attendant Manabhanjan Sahu.
Sources said the ambulance was carrying a patient and his relatives from Boudh towards VIMSAR in Burla when it dashed against a sand-laden truck on the highway.
While the ambulance attendant reportedly died on the spot, five others in the vehicle sustained grievous injuries. Police personnel, who reached the spot after getting information, along with locals rushed the victims to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.
