Berhampur: Odisha’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government on Thursday asserted that at least 11 of the 21 promises made by the party ahead of last elections have already been fulfilled in the first 12 months in office.
This was stated by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo while addressing a press conference in Berhampur to highlight the achievements of the government on completion of one year in office.
“Our government took concrete steps to fulfil the promises made in the Sankalp Patra (election manifesto) immediately after assuming office a year ago. We made four historic decisions within 24 minutes of our first cabinet meeting,” he said.
These key decisions included opening up of all the four doors of Shree Jagannath Temple at Puri, open up the ‘Ratna Bhandar’, setting up a corpus fund of Rs 500-cr and introduction of ‘Subhadra’ Yojana. “We have fulfilled the hopes of the people. Whatever we promised, we would deliver during our present term. We will go to the people, take their feedback and complete the remaining four years”, said the Deputy CM.
Regarding future agenda, he said the government is committed to procure a cargo aircraft to export green vegetables and fresh fruits from Odisha to abroad and other places. “We are now exporting vegetables and fruits including strawberry, dragon and other fruits to Dubai and other countries besides Delhi, Mumbai and other places in India which are in great demand. Cargo aircraft can also be a boon for the floriculture sector in Ganjam”, he said.
The state government is also committed to provide water for irrigation to the lands of 15 lakh farmers and make Odisha as number 1 state in vegetable production in the whole country. Planning to produce more dal and edible oil in Odisha, the Deputy CM said.
‘Bharat Biotech’, which provided Covid vaccine in the entire country during the epidemic period and helped the country to control the Covid, has opened a plant at Khurda.
Under our zero-tolerance approach towards corruption at the bureaucratic level, the government initiated action against 28 corrupted officials including IAS and IPS. The BJP government’s resolve is to ensure a prosperous Odisha through transparent and accountable governance, he said.
A separate visionary programme has been launched to celebrate 100 years of Odisha’s statehood in 2036. We have initiated structured action plans under Mission 2036 and Mission 2047, aligning with key historical milestones and national goals.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he described that world leaders have admitted Modi as the number one leader for his vision towards a better earth. Operation Sindoor as a retaliatory action against terrorism soon after the Pahalgam killings has proved the strength of our armed forces, he said.
BJP MP from Berhampur Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy said a new era has started for the development of Odisha.
