11 Places In Odisha Reel Under 42 Degree Celsius Or More; Sambalpur Hottest

Bhubaneswar: Hot and sultry condition continued across Odisha, mostly western region, as 17 places recorded maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius on Monday.

According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorolgical Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur was the hottest place in the state registering a temperature of 43.3 degree Celsius on the day.

The other places that reeled under the heatwave included Boudh with 43 degree Celsius, Hirakud 42.6, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh 42.5, Sonepur 42.3, Bargarh 42.2, Angul 42.1, Balangir, Talcher and Rourkela 42, and Titlagarh and Baripada with 41 degree Celsius each.

The IMD has forecast no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) in Odisha during next 5 days. It is likely to be 42 degree Celsius or more at few places in some districts including Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Jharsuguda and Bargarh during theperiod.

Consequently hot and discomfort weather very likely to prevail. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during day time between 11 am and 3 pm.

The Met office has also issued yellow warning and forecast that thunderstorm with lightning, hail and gusty
surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely at one or two places in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, Nuapada by 8.30 am on Tuesday.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak districts.
