‘12th Fail’ Director Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Son Agni Setting Ranji Trophy On Fire

Mumbai: As Vidhu Vinod Chopra basks in the success of his widely-acclaimed film ’12th Fail’, his cricketer son Agni is enjoying his moments under the sun.

The 25-year-old Agni on Saturday hit a blistering 164 off 150 balls, playing for Mizoram in the Ranji Trophy Plate league match against Nagaland at Nadiad in Gujarat.

Left-hander Agni’s brilliant knock helped Mizoram earn a 145-run first-innings lead.

It was the 25-year-old Agni’s second Ranji century in as many matches.

Agni had smashed 166 – out of Mizoram’s total of 211 — in his debut innings and followed it up with a 92 in the second innings against Sikkim in the previous match.

Agni was born in Detroit (US) on November 4, 1998 to filmmaker Vidhu Vinod and renowned author Anupama Chopra.

Agni started his career at the junior level for Mumbai. He played a handful of games in the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy for Mumbai, but couldn’t make a mark.

After failing to break into the senior Mumbai team, Agni decided to shift base to Mizoram in the hope of more opportunities.

His maiden appearance for Mizoram, in a Syed Mushtaq Ali (T20) Trophy match against Chhattisgarh last October was hardly memorable as he made just 5 runs.

Now, he has set the Ranji Trophy on fire with a string of big scores.
