‘12th Fail’ Star Vikrant Massey Says Sorry, Deletes Old Tweet; What Was His Post?

Mumbai: Vikrant Massey has apologised for an old tweet and deleted it.

It was way back in 2018 that the popular actor of ‘12th Fail’ fame had written on Twitter (now X) about an editorial cartoon of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita.

Under fire recently after that post — in which Sita was shown commenting on Ram bhakts – resurfaced, Massey said he had no intentions of hurting sentiments of the people or any community.

“In context to one of my Tweets way back in 2018, I’d like to say a few words: It was never my intention to hurt, malign or disrespect the Hindu community. But as I reflect in hindsight about a Tweet made in jest, I also release (realise) the distasteful nature of it. The same could have been said without adding the cartoon which was published in a newspaper,” Massey wrote on X.

“And I’d with utmost humility like to apologise to each and everyone who has been hurt 🙏🏽 As you all by now know, that I hold all faiths, beliefs and religions with the highest possible regard. We all grow up with time and reflect upon our mistakes. This was mine,” the actor added.

Massey’s apology came after Mumbai-based advocate Ashutosh Dubey shared a screenshot of the chat he had with the actor on his controversial old tweet.

‘12th Fail’ directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is a biographical drama based on the life of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame poverty to achieve the position of an IPS officer. The movie features Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar in lead roles. ‘12th Fail’ is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Following the massive success of Vidhu Vinod Chopra-directed ‘12th Fail’, Massey will feature in the Ektaa Kapoor-backed ‘The Sabarmati Report’, which is based on the 2002 Sabarmati Express fire.

The film also stars Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra in key roles. It’s scheduled release date in theatres is on May 3, 2024.
