Bhubaneswar/Nayagarh: A 13-year-old girl, who went missing from Bhubaneswar’s Saliasahi area three days ago, was traced to Nayagarh district and safely brought back to the state capital on Thursday.
A youth has been detained in connection with the incident.
According to sources, the girl, a resident of Saliasahi area under Nayapalli police limits, left home on April 13 for tuition classes but did not ret
urn. Nayapalli police filed a case of kidnapping after her family reported her missing that evening. Cops scanned footage of several CCTV cameras, which revealed that she had boarded a bus after leaving her bicycle and bag at the tuition centre.
Following which, teams from Nayapalli police, in coordination with Nayagarh police, tracked her movements and located her at a house in Sarankul area. The girl was rescued and brought back to Bhubaneswar, where she is set to be reunited with her family at the Nayapalli police station following standard procedures and medical checks.
While a youth has been detained, members of the family with whom she stayed, are also being questioned. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of her disappearance and any possible involvement of individuals.
