Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has launched a massive ‘Operation Anweshan’ to trace and rescue missing and trafficked Odia children who may have been taken to other parts of the country.
The campaign, scheduled to continue till September 8, will see 17 Odisha Police teams visiting 17 states identified as possible destinations where the missing Odia children are expected to be found.
Two teams have been constituted under each police range for the operation.
Each team comprises of five police personnel and a legal-cum-probation officer from the Women and Child Development department.
After rescuing the missing children, the police teams will take steps to facilitate the reintegration of Odia children staying in Child Care Institutes in other states with their families.
Range IGPs/DIGPs and Additional Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, will coordinate the different teams’ activities in their respective destination states.
The operation will be conducted under the overall guidance of the Additional Director General of Police, Crime Against Women and Children Wing, Odisha.
In February this year, Odisha Police traced and reunited 5,451 missing women and children with their families under ‘Operation Anweshan 2’.
