Jaipur/New Delhi: As many as 2,445 NEET-PG 2026 candidates will have to sit for a retest on September 5 due to technical disruptions at two centres in Sitapura, Jaipur, during the examination conducted on Sunday.

Over 2.65 lakh candidates appeared for the examination for admission to post-graduate courses in medicine across the country.

The technical problems repeatedly disrupted the test, making it difficult for them to complete the examination under normal conditions, candidates at the affected centres said. Several candidates took to the streets and demanded that the examination be conducted again.

Vishnu Sharma, one of the candidates, alleged that the examination systems crashed at least 20 times during the test. The repeated breakdowns created confusion among candidates and affected the examination environment at the centre, he claimed, as reported by News18.

During the system disruptions, students were able to openly discuss questions among themselves, he said, demanding that the NEET-PG 2026 examination be cancelled and conducted again nationwide.

The protest has brought back to focus the challenges faced by candidates during high-stakes examinations, with students questioning the arrangements at centres where technical problems were reported.

This happened despite extensive security, technological and monitoring arrangements put in place for the nationwide examination.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has said that an unforeseen technical disruption occurred at the iON Digital Zone iDZ Sitapura Centres in Jaipur, Rajasthan (TC Nos. 41682 and 41683).

NBEMS expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the affected candidates, while admitting that the examination could not be completed for 2,445 of them due to internal power supply issues at the test centres. It attributed the disruptions to M/s TCS Ltd, the examination conducting agency.

The examination for all 2,445 candidates has been scheduled again to ensure that the affected candidates receive a fair and equitable opportunity to appear for NEET-PG 2026, NBEMS has announced.

The re-examination will be held on September 5, 2026 (Saturday), at 3 PM in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

The NEET-PG 2026 examination was scheduled for 2,73,096 candidates across 1,111 examination centres in 339 cities, covering all 36 States and Union Territories. A total of 2,65,980 candidates appeared, with approximately 2,63,535 candidates successfully completing the examination.
