Ghaziabad: Can you imagine a human being swallowing toothbrushes and spoons? Not one but dozens of them!
Identified as Sachin, the 35-year-old was rushed to Devanandani Hospital in Ghaziabad after complaining of severe abdominal pain. X-ray and CT scan revealed unusual objects — spoons, toothbrushes and even pens — lodged in his stomach.
Doctors performed a surgery to remove 29 steel spoons, 19 toothbrushes and 2 pens from his stomach!
How did all this happen?
According to Sachin, he pushed the objects down his throat in anger at a rehabilitation centre.
A resident of Hapur, Sachin was sent to the district de-addiction centre by his family, NDTV reported.
His extreme anger was because of the small portions of food being served to patients at the rehab centre.
“In the entire day, we would be given very little amount of vegetables and just a few chapatis. If something came from home, mostly it wouldn’t reach us. We would sometimes get one biscuit in a day,” Sachin complained.
To take ‘revenge’, he stole spoons from a pile of utensils, took them to the bathroom, broke them into pieces and pushed them down his throat, sometimes with the help of water.
Doctors initially tried to remove the objects through an endoscopy procedure, but soon found out it won’t be possible. They then had no option but to open the abdomen and perform a full-fledged surgery.
