Balangir: In a tragic incident, two brothers were killed after a van hit their bike at a village in Odisha’s Balangir district on Monday.
As per information, the mishap took place near Larki village under the jurisdiction of Turekala police station in the district.
The deceased have been identified as Rajkumar Ray and his brother Dilesh Ray of Bhalukhai village under Belpada police station in the district.
Sources said the two brothers were proceeding to a nearby place on the motorcycle in the afternoon when the speeding pick-up van hit their bike. Both sustained critical injuries.
However, the driver of the speeding van fled the spot soon after the mishap.
While Rajkumar reportedly died on the spot, locals rescued Dinesh and rushed him to a hospital at Turekela. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.
On being informed, a police team visited the spot and seized the bodies before sending them for postmortem. Efforts are on to trace the van and its driver.
