Cuttack: At least two persons were critically injured after firecrackers exploded at Puruna Tigiria village under Tigiria area of Odisha’s Cuttack district on Tuesday.
The injured, identified as Biplab Sahu and Papun Behera, were rescued by locals and rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for emergency treatment.
As tension prevailed in the area after the incident, Athagarh SDPO, along with personnel from Badamba and Tigiria Police Stations, carried out a raid in the village. During the operation, a large quantity of firecrackers was seized.
Tigiria Police have detained four persons for questioning and investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the blast. The reason behind the blast is yet to be confirmed.
