2 Forest Staff Suspended Over Elephant Deaths In Odisha’s Rourkela
Rourkela: Two days after elephants were mowed down by a goods train near Rourkela city, a forester and forest guard have been suspended by the forest department.
They are Bisra Range forester Radha Gobinda Bohidar and Jareikela forest guard Gurudeb Bhoi.
Sources said the Forest department has also summoned loco pilot of the goods train to appear and submit his statement in connection with the incident.
On February 4, two elephants were run over by a goods train at Mahipani, 30 km away from Odisha’s Rourkela city.
A herd of elephants was crossing the tracks when two wagons of the train, which was heading towards Shalimar from Nashik, derailed in the collision.
