Bhubaneswar: Sonepur ADJ court on Saturday sentenced two persons, convicted in the murder of additional district medical officer (ADMO) of district headquarters hospital Durbadala Mishra, to life imprisonment.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 each on the convicts, Pratyush Panda and Ashok Sahu.
The verdicts came 11 years after Pratyush along with Sahu murdered Mishra because he suspected his eight-month-old nephew, who had congenital heart problem, died due to the latter’s negligence. The child had died minutes after allegedly being administered an injection at Mishra’s clinic. Pratyush had then vowed not to cover the grave of his nephew till he killed the doctor.
Mishra was found dead with his throat slit barely 40 metre from his residence at Sonepur on September 21, 2014.
While confessing to the crime, Pratyush had told police that he would cover the grave of his nephew after being released from jail.
