2 Including 84-Yr-Old Woman Of Balasore Succumb To COVID In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The COVID toll in Odisha touched 8,450 on Friday with two more patients succumbing to the disease.
According to the Health Department, an 84-year-old woman from Balasore district is the latest victim. She had no comorbidities.
A 58-year-old man of Ganjam district is the second victim. He was also suffering from hypertension.
The state has so far reported 6,574 COVID deaths during the second wave against 1,876 in the first wave last year.
There were 80 casualties in November, 134 in October and 346 in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in the Health Department.
The second wave of the pandemic has claimed 48 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
