Bhubaneswar: The STF personnel have arrested two inter-state drug peddlers from Odisha capital on Friday night.
On the basis of intelligence input, the STF conducted a raid near Baramunda in Bhubaneswar and apprehended interstate drug peddlers identified as Kapildev Majumdar of Kalyani Simanto under Kalyani police limits in Nadia district of West Bengal and Rasmiranjan Bhol of Damanbhuin under Jankia police station in Khurda district of Odisha.
During search, brown sugar weighing 1.23 kg, Rs 17,000 in cash and other incriminating materials were seized from their possession. Besides, a fake ID card as a gynaecology doctor of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, xerox copy of photographs in police uniform, ID card of GM Swastika Event Ltd, a bike and 2 laptops were seized from the possession of Bhol.
As the accused persons could not produce any document for possession the contraband, they were arrested and are being forwarded to the court. STF has registered a case under NDPS Act 1985 in this connection. Further investigation is on.
During its special drive against narcotic drugs since 2020, STF has seized more than 52 kg of brown sugar, 202 gram cocaine and more than 93 quintal of ganja, 750 gram opium and arrested more than 146 drug dealers and peddlers, an STF release stated.
