2 Men Succumb To COVID-19 In Odisha’s Cuttack District

Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 8,462 on Saturday with two more patients succumbing to the disease.

According to the Health Department, a 65-year-old COVID positive man of Cuttack district was one of the victims. He was also suffering from sepsis following aspiration, CVA and bedsore.

The second victim is a 40-year-old COVID positive male, who also belongs to Cuttack district. Besides COVID, he was suffering from duodenal perforation, septic shock AKI and hyperkalemia.

The state has so far reported 6,586 COVID deaths during the second wave against 1,876 in the first wave last year.

There were 56 casualties in December. As many as 80 COVID deaths reported in November, 134 in October and 346 in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in the Health Department.

The second wave of the pandemic has claimed 48 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
