Bhubaneswar: Two members of an inter-state gang of robbers allegedly involved in a loot case in Bhubaneswar were arrested by the Commissionerate Police from New Delhi.
Sources said the arrest was made during investigation into a robbery at the house of a senior Income Tax (I-T) official in Saheed Nagar area of Bhubaneswar.
The stolen articles were recovered from the possession of the robbers, who are stated to be involved in criminal activities in Odisha and other states.
Following the robbery at I-T officer’s house in Bhubaneswar, police launched a thorough probe and nabbed two robbers from New Delhi. The stolen articles were recovered from the two, who are being brought to Bhubaneswar for detailed interrogation and further probe. Efforts are underway to trace other gang members who may still be at large.
Twin City Police Commissioner, Suresh Dev Datta Singh said analysis of digital evidence accumulated from the crime site and nearby areas showed that a lootera gang active in New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Bihar was involved in the crime.
While two persons have been arrested in this connection, hunt is on to nab others.
