Cuttack: Two police personnel were killed and another sustained critical injury after a sand-laden truck rammed into a Police Control Room (PCR) van on the Cuttack-Paradip road on Tuesday morning.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place near Gati Routpatna under the CRRI police limits when the PCR van was on a routine patrol and the speeding truck loaded with sand crashed into it.
The deceased have been identified as Jagannath Mahali, who was driving the van, and Lokanath Shabar, a member of the Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OAPF).
The injured, Pabitra Mohan Sethi, was immediately rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for emergency treatment. His condition was stated to be critical.
Soon after the incident, a team of police personnel visited the accident site, detained the truck driver, and launched a probe into the circumstances that led to the crash.

Expressing deep sorrow over the untimely demise of the officers, the Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to their families.
The announcement was made through a post by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO Odisha) on X.
