Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Monday conferred Police Medals for Gallantry, President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service, Medals for Meritorious Service, and the Governor’s Medal on 42 police officers and personnel.
The coveted medals were presented by the Governor at an investiture ceremony held in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day.
These prestigious honours, announced by the President on Independence Day 2025, celebrate exceptional bravery, unwavering dedication, and exemplary service to the nation.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Among the awardees, 20 officers received the Governor’s Medal for meritorious service. Prominent recipients include Southern Range Inspector General Niti Shekhar, Central Range Inspector General Satyajit Naik, and Puri Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh, whose leadership and commitment have earned wide appreciation.
For displaying exceptional courage and valour in the line of duty, nine personnel were conferred with the prestigious President’s Medal for Gallantry. Their actions reflect remarkable bravery and dedication to safeguarding lives and maintaining law and order.
In addition, two officers were awarded the Police Medal for Distinguished Service, recognising their sustained excellence, professionalism, and long-standing commitment to duty.
Further, 11 personnel received the Police Medal for Meritorious Service for demonstrating high standards of efficiency and integrity in their respective roles.
This apart, seven members of the Fire Service and three personnel from the Jail Department were also awarded Police Medals in recognition of their significant contributions to public safety, emergency response, and prison administration.
