23 Kumbh Mela Visitors Test COVID-19 Positive On Returning To Odisha; 13 From Cuttack City

Cuttack: Odisha has so far seen 23 Kumbh Mela returnees testing positive for COVID-19.

Among them, 13 are from Cuttack city and 10 from Rayagada.

According to Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), 30 people had returned to the city from Haridwar on Monday and 13 among them were found to be infected.

All 30 persons had undergone RT-PCR test on their arrival at Cuttack railway station. The infected are now being kept in isolation.

According to reports received from the Uttarakhand government, nine families from Cuttack city had made a trip to Haridwar.

It is now mandatory for passengers to produced RT-PCR negative test reports not more than 72 hours old at the exit of the railway station. Enforcement squad have been deployed by the CMC for screening and testing of passengers without the required negative test report.

In Rayagada, 10 returnees have tested positive for the virus. The infected were among the 29 people of Padampur block, who returned to the district on Sunday. Another 20 persons, who returned on Monday, are being kept at the COVID care centre.

So far, 70 people have returned to the district from Haridwar.

Over 400 devotees from Odisha had participated in Kumbh Mela.

Among those who had registered with the Uttarakhand government, 25 were from Ganjam, 20 from Nabarangpur, 20 from Puri, 10 from Khurda and nine from Cuttack.
