25 Platoons Of Police Force Deployed For Pipili Bypoll In Odisha Tomorrow
Puri: Keeping the explosion in Balanga police station in the constituency just two days before the byelection to Pipili Assembly constituency on Thursday, tight security has been put in place.
Total 348 polling booths in the constituency have been divided into 4 zones. Three additional SPs assisted by 4 deputy SPs will be in charge of supervision of the four zones.
As many as 25 platoons of police force along with 3 companies of CAPF supervised by 35 senior officers in the rank of SP/Additional SP/DSP/Inspector have been deployed to ensure smooth conduct of the bypoll.
Similarly, 30 officers in the rank of SI/ASI along with 30 sections of police force have been assigned to 10 Check Posts and 6 SIs/ASIs with 15 sections of force deployed in the areas under Pipili, Delanga, Balanga and Satyabadi police stations. Total 32 mobile parties will visit the booths during election in these police stations.
Total six flying squads and static surveillance teams have been formed for monitoring a free and fair election.
In addition to this, 163 SIs/DSIs/Dy Subedars/ASIs/Home Guards and 736 Havildars/Constables/APRs/Home Guards have been deployed.
While the ruling BJD has fielded Rudra Pratap Maharathy, the son of former MLA late Pradeep Maharathy, as its candidate, Ashrit Pattanayak is the BJP nominee and Bishwokeshan Harichandan Mohapatra the Congress candidate in the byelection.
