3 Arrested For Posing As Police Officials To Loot In Odisha’s Cuttack; Probe Team To Visit Maharashtra
Cuttack: Three men were arrested in Odisha’s Cuttack city for allegedly carrying out loot by posing as police officials.
According to sources, the three has looted gold ornaments and over Rs three lakh cash from two places in Badambadi area of Cuttack.
After receiving complaints from the victims, the Commissionerate Police formed a special team to nab the trio. Following thorough investigation, the special team arrested the three accused persons. Two bikes were also recovered from them.
Posing as police officials, the three looted people on the pretext of pre-election checking. They allegedly looted Rs 2.73 lakh from the house of a businessman in Aul area of Kendrapada district also.
The three reportedly belonged to the notorious ‘Irani gang’ with inter-state network. While two of them came from Maharashtra, another was from Madhya Pradesh. There are at least 14 cases against the trio.
Further investigation is in progress and a team of police personnel is likely to visit Maharashtra as part of the probe, police said.
