Three members of an inter-state gang of robbers were arrested in connection with the murders of former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina’s relatives in Pathankot last month, following which Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh declared the case as “solved”.
According to Pathankot DGP Dinkar Gupta, 11 other accused persons are yet to be arrested.
In a daring robbery attempt, robbers shot Raina’s uncle Ashok Kumar, killing the contractor on the spot at their Pathankot home on August 29.
His son Kaushal succumbed to injuries two days later, while Kumar’s wife Asha Rani is still battling for life in the hospital. Two other family members have been discharged after treatment.
Captain Amarinder had set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under IGP Border Range Amritsar soon after the incident to probe the case expeditiously.
More than 100 suspected persons were examined during the investigation, according to DGP Gupta.
