Cuttack: A heartbreaking, triple tragedy rocked a family in Odisha’s Cuttack district after three children died while playing near a septic tank.
The terrible mishap took place at Ragadipada village under Baramba block on Sunday when the three minors drowned in the septic tank.
The victims have been identified as Ankita Naik (9), Shibani Naik (7) and Shubham Naik (3).
According to local people, the children fell into the septic tank when a concrete slab suddenly gave way.
As the trio did not return to their maternal uncle home at the village for several hours, their family members began a frantic search.
One of the relatives noticed the damaged slab and jumped into the tank thinking of the worst.
The children were brought out of the tank in an unconscious state and rushed to the Badamba hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.
Athagarh SDPO Biswajit Mohanty, who visited the spot with other senior police officials, said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and cases of unnatural death registered.
