3 Corepatis In Fray For Bhubaneswar Mayor Post; Check Who Is The Richest
Bhubaneswar: Three of the 12 Mayor candidates for Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) are crorepatis with BJD nominee Sulochana Das, who has declared assets worth Rs 1,82,60,338 in her election affidavit, being the richest among them.
BJP’s Suniti Mund is a close second with assets valued at Rs 1,08,2,671 followed by Freethought Party’s Swapna Bijayeeni at Rs 1,74,38,337.

>> Her husband Prafulla Das owns assets worth Rs 71,27,522, which includes a flat at Nanda Devi VIP Enclave at Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar valued at around Rs 85 lakh and a car (Renault Duster)
Soluchana owns no land or plot and the couple has no loans from banks.

The Congress’ Mayor candidate, Madhusmita Acharya, is worth Rs 13,13,606. She has bank deposits amounting to Rs 12,31,506 while the remaining Rs 82,100 belongs to her husband Jitendra Panda, son of former Jajpur MLA Kangali Panda.
Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Mayor candidate Sarojini Khunti has total properties worth Rs 89,00,904.
The post, reserved for woman, will see a direct election, for the first time, on March 24.
Notably, 355 aspiring candidates had filed nominations for the posts of ward corporators and Mayor in the BMC from March 2 to 7. After the scrutiny of the nominations was completed on March 9 as per schedule, 354 papers have been found valid.
The papers filed by all 12 candidates for the Mayor post have been declared valid.
